David Brown Sun Aug 25 18:31:14 1996 CAMPBELL,KERBAUGH Joshua CAMPBELL moved from Greene County, TN shortly after marrying Sarah KERBAUGH IN May 23, 1853. Sarah was the daughter of John KERBAUGH of Greene Co. John had married Betsey (Elizabeth?) Wampler in 1821. John was born in 1785 in TN or VA but shows up on the tax rolls in Greene Co in 1805. John had several brothers and/or children who are listed in the 1830 census. It is hard to disentangle who might be who and the 1850 census sheds little light. The above named Sarah was born in 1834 and is consistently listed in subsequent censuses as such. Betsey (Elizabeth?) was born in 1802 and possibly was the daughter of Michael WAMPLER who was born c1765. Again there are many WAMPLERS in the area all of whom are probably related but it is difficult to determine who is who. My subject Joshua CAMPBELL is hard to trace. The 1850 census shows only two Joshuas in TN and only one in Greene Co. He was living with Jackson CAMPBELL who may have been his brother but was far too young to be his father. Any help with Joshua or in untangling the WAMPLERS and KERBAUGH as well as any information on their forebearers would be appreciated. Albert Loyd Starnes Fri Sep 6 07:29:50 1996 LOYD Trying to find information on Charles LOYD who lived in Green Co., TN from 1830 - 1870. Need to find who his father was. Anyone researching this surname? The following is information that I have gathered. 1850 census lists Charles's age as 33 making birth around 1817. In 1860 census it lists his age as 41, making birth around 1819. In 1880 census shows his age as 61, making his birth around 1819 as well. Pleasant Vale cemetery records show his birth date 6/29/1814. Seeing as two different census years indicate birth to be around 1819, I feel that they are more accurate. 1880 census also shows that he was born in Tennessee, and that his father and mother were both from Virginia. He is living with "adopted daughter" Jane E. Jones (35). ERASMUS LOYD had a daughter by the name of ELIZA JANE. Charles was the executor of ERASMUS' estate. Could this Eliza truely be an "adopted" daughter? Per information gathered by Pat Rowe, genealogy researcher for the Greeneville Library, she believes that Charles' father could have been either a Thomas or Robertson/Robinson Loyd. After further research on my own, I'm inclined to believe that Charles is the son of ROBINSON LOYD and PHEOBE PHILLIPS. Reasons: When Charles marries, Britton PHILLIPS is a witness. Charles PHILLIPS was a brother to Pheobe PHILLIPS who were the children of Dyer Phillips who loaned money to JAMES LOYD as shown in court records. Apparently, Charles Loyd may have been named after his "mother's" brother CHARLES PHILLIPS. Charles and Margaret's wedding was from Greene Co. TN Marriages 1783-1868 book by Goldene Fillers Burgner c. 1981. It shows that ROBINSON LOYD and PHOEBE PHILLIPS were married Dec. 30, 1807. Charles and Margaret had a BRITTAIN PHILLIPS as one of their witnesses. This could be another possible connection between these two LOYD families. There are no land records that would indicate that there is a connection to Robinson Loyd seeing as most all of the land that Charles acquires is through his wife Margaret's side of the family....ROGERS.
