Interested in information on the family of SAMUEL SPEARS HAWKINS. A NANCY McCollum, born c. 1800 was left a widow by the death of her husband on 30 Aug 1816. She had two small children and was pregnant with a third. Among the Orphan records is the name Samuel Hawkins. When her two sons, Thomas (III) and Valentine McCollum came of age, they both sold their share of their father's land to Samuel Spears Hawkins. I wonder if Nancy could have been a Hawkins before her marriage to Thomas McCollum, Jr. son of Thomas McCollum Sr., and Mary Vaneman/VanEman McCollum. Nancy had a short second marriage to a Linebaugh who refused to give over part of the estate. I found no divorce papers, but she is a McCollum again in the next census. She died after 1860 on Sand Mountain, Jackson County, Ala. where her son Valentine and daughter Mary Ann McCollum Johnston had moved.

I have been working on a murder mystery that involves my Dad's 1/2 brother, Marshall Jennings father and uncle, Thomas Greely Jennings and Marshall Jennings. Goldene Fillers Burgner told me of them being killed up in the Cove area of Greene County, Tennessee in 1906. They were both shot at the same time, but Marshall died then and Thomas Greely, Uncle Marsh's dad lived several month's longer. I hope that someone knows the story behind this, and can fill me in on the details, as I was told another 1st. cousin of their's murdered them....but, why, and which cousin?
Thomas Greely had been married to my grandmother, Eliza Kinser Holt Jennings Waddell.
Thomas Greely was a 1st. cousin to my grandfather Edd Waddell.
Marshall and Thomas Greely were the son's of: Malinda Ricker & Stephen Jennings.
If anyone has the answer to this mystery, I would really appreciate the help in solving this.
Thanks a bunch in advance!

NASH/ MISENHEIMER/FOGLEMAN/POTTS/
TAYLOR/OWEN/MANN/HILL/OUTLAW/LOCKERMANAll I know about my Tennessee connection for Andrew J. Nash was that he was suppose to have been born there in 1809 according to the census. Can someone help me place him in the correct Tennessee county? My maternal 3rd. great grandfather is Andrew Jackson NASH b. 1809 TN, d. 23 Jun 1854 Carlinville, Macoupin Co., IL, married first Mary Polly MISENHEIMER (daughter of John MISENHEIMER & Mary FOGLEMAN). He married second Mrs. Pacify Tinsey MANN and had son Francis (Frank) Marion Nash). Andrew and Mary had the following children: 1. John M. b. 1832 IL
2. Robert Franklin b. 1835 IL, d. ca. 1901 Terrell, TX, married 29 Sept 1859 in Montgomery Co., IL to Sarah POTTS
3. Andrew J. b. 23 Feb 1840 Macoupin Co., IL, d. 4 Feb 1923 in Cumberland Co., IL, married 14 March 1878 to Sarah TAYLOR
4. William J. b. 24 Sept 1842 Macoupin Co., IL, d. 30 Jul 1884 Mattoon, Coles Co., IL, married 10 Jan 1867 Litchfield, Montgomery Co., IL to Frances Jane OWEN (these are my 2nd. great grandparents).
Andrew Jackson NASH might have been married before he married Mary MISENHEIMER as there was a Sarah NASH who married 10 Mar 1849 in Montgomery Co., IL to Robert HILL. There was also a Martha NASH who married 11 Feb 1850 in Montgomery Co., IL to James A. OUTLAW. On the 1830 census of Montgomery Co., IL, was listed Andrew NASH as male 20/30 yrs, 1 female under 5, one female 5/10 and one female 20/30. In 1853, Andrew was indicted for the murder of Alexander LOCKERMAN. Andrew and LOCKERMAN were drunk at a fourth of July picnic and there was a fight. Andrew stabbed LOCKERMAN and left for two years. He was found in Arkansas and brought back to Illinois for the trial. He was found guilty and was suppose to hang. His sentences was commuted to life in prison but there was a riot and he was killed.

Samuel Porter came to Greene Co. about 1820 probably from NC. He had the following children: Washington, Hamilton, William, Reuben, Robert, John, Rebecca, and James, and possibly a Samuel F. This family of Porter's are associated with the following families: Cogburn's, McKeehan's, Morrison's, Tarlton's. Samuel lived in Dist #2 from 1820-1840, when he moved to dist# 3 and lived next to John Cogburn. About 1842 he moved across the Nola River into dist #9. In 1853 he died. Reuben sold the land and left the state. The only one I have tracked is Washington. Where did the other Porter's go ??

I am searching for JOHN ROBINSON b. abt 1820 d. bef 1860. He was married to NANCY WILLIAMS, b. Apr. 27, 1822 , died June 11, 1902. She was the daughter of JOHN WILLIAMS , and his wife RUTH. They had a son named JOHN HARLOW ROBINSON, who was married to TABITHA CAMPBELL. They also had a daughter that was my grandmother's, grandmother, NANCY MIRANDA ROBINSON. She was born in 1839, Hawkins Co, TN. She died April 16, 1916, @ Corbin, Whitley Co, KY. MIRANDA was also known to go by NANCY, her first name. NANCY MIRANDA has been a "strange bird to track"! Apparently she married ELI HOWELL , March 1, 1856, in Jefferson Co, TN. She & ELI HOWELL apparently had a son, ROBERT HOWELL. The marriage did not last long [ no divorce has been found to date ]. ROBERT HOWELL born abt. 1856. However, by Nov. 29, 1858 , in Grainger Co, TN., she remarried my G/G grandad, DUNCAN HASH [1838/40 -1900/10 ], who had just ended a brief marriage himself, in Whitley Co., KY. ! They are both buried in Corbin, Ky., but even they were seperated in their last years. I believe Nancy Miranda was hiding her 1st child from his father [ ELI HOWELL]. After she moved to Whitley Co., Ky., with her second husband, she is found in the next county [ Knox Co., KY.] on the 1860 census. They had lived in Grainger Co, TN, in Oct. 1859, when my great grandad, JOHN HASH [1859/1935 ] was born. After 1860, the Howell child is not found. I believe Eli Howell "collected" his son. An older brother of my grandmother's was in his 90's when he died. He told me of a trip to the Morristown , TN, area as a very young man. There his father introduced him to a "uncle he had never heard of before"! This uncle was involved in some sort of wood business. Was this the missing child "Robert Howell"? My great uncle could not remember any more info about the meeting. NANCY MIRANDA ROBINSON HOWELL HASH went on to have 11 more children with her 2nd husband, most of which migrated to Eureka, CA in the early 1900's. I am looking for this JOHN & NANCY WILLIAMS ROBINSON family, as well as ANY info possible about this missing ELI HOWELL, the son, ROBERT HOWELL, and any thing connected to this enstranged family. PLEASE!!!! If you know anything, or are connected to this family, PLEASE CONTACT ME!? I will share all I have.
