BELLJoseph E. BELL of Lincolnton NC bought 40 acres for a Seminary, Deed book 13 pg 144, Greene Co Deeds. He sold this land to B.F. Bell Mar 1861 and E. F. Bell mentioned in this later deed. 5 Sept 1856 he sold his wife Hepzibah interest in the estate of Wm. Woolsey. Also 22 Feb 1836 he sold 4 tracts totaling 104 acres south of the Nolachuckey River and witness to this deed was John W. and Luther M. Bell. This seems to indicate that he owned or inherited land in TN before his purchase of the land for a seminary. Is Joseph E. Bell the son of Thomas Bell who moved to neighboring WA Co TN and did he have a brother Andrew E. Bell who was b. 1797? Were the other Bell men mentioned in deeds his brothers or sons? Thanks for your help, will share research documentation and ideas. Barb

I am searching for any information that I can find on Henry Brown. His parent's names, when & where he died. He was the second husband of Nancy Ann Seaton Davis Brown. Nancy Ann's first husband, John Davis along with her brother, William Patton Seaton were killed during the Civil War in Cocke County, Tennessee by another cousin of theirs, Jesse Holt. My great-grandfather was Henry Brown and he was appointed administrator over the estate of Andrew Jackson Seaton. Jackson died before his wife Susannah Wilhoit Seaton. There was some trouble of sort's there, according to some very old amost illeigable records that Goldene Fillers Burgner sent to me, concerning the estate being settled. I feel as if Henry left Greene County, and went to Warm Springs, NC aka Hot Springs...as I found something of him being on a 1880 Census there, unless this was another Henry Brown. Nancy Ann and her children were listed in the 1880 Greene County Census....and, Henry isn't buried there in Greene County with Nancy Ann. Please contact me with any information....even if it is bad news!

My great great grandfather, Benjamin GOODIN, lived in Greene County in the 1810-1850 time period. He married Polly JONES (daughter of William JONES) on October 17, 1830 and they had nine, possibly ten, children born there before they moved to Missouri in the 1850's. Children were Benjamin W. (?), William Sevier, Nancy C., Mary J., Martha C., Mahala, James P., Minerva J., Phoebe Virginia (my great grandmother), and George M. Benjamin GOODIN's father was James GOODIN and grandfather was also Benjamin GOODIN. Apparently the elder Benjamin was a "land baron" in Greene County in the late 1700 and early 1800's having received a number of land grants from the state of North Carolina.

I am researching two families that should have been in Tennessee in the early 1800s:
one is William F. McBride, b. 1812 son of Wm. McBride and Sarah Delaney. Wm. F. married Amanda F. Hammond; however, from her obituary in Nebraska City, Nebraska in 1896 I have learned that she had only 4 children, and Wm. had had 15!! I have also found a reference in family letters to my great grant aunt's the oldest daughter of Wm. F's oldest child Sarah J.'sto her having been named "Grace Emma" after a young woman who had died, and Sarah J. gave her sons by both her Hybarger and her Johnston marriages the middle name of LEE. Therefore I suspect that Sarah's mother may have been a Grace Emma LEE. I have found no record of this and don't know where to begin. The marriage would have been about 1827/1833 in Greene County. This McBride family gave their children names like Martin and Malancthon's I'm not sure if they were Lutheran or Presbyterian but these sound like names from the reformed tradition.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any information on Nancy Rymal who married Emanuel Good on 5 Jan 1811 in Washington County, TN? They from around Horse Creek, in Washington and Greene Counties, and Emanuel, in the 1830s and early '40s, is found in various documents in both counties. He sold land ca. 1842-44 to John Good, probably a son by Nancy. Nancy died around 1825-26, when Emanuel married 2nd Elizabeth Copp in Washington County. By 1850, Emanuel, Elizabeth and family have moved to Moniteau County, MO. Especially want any information on parents of both Nancy and Emanuel.
Any help or clues would be greatly appreciated.
