My name is Howard Bigham. I am looking for any information on my ggg-grandfather, Nathaniel Bigham. I do not know if there was a first or second name. His wife was Rebecca White Bigham and the came to Greene Co from NC. and from VA. I saw a ref to the fact that he was there in Greene Co. in 1797. I can not find much about him. I don't know if the William Bradley senior mentioned in his will is his brother, father or whom.

Looking for information and descendants on the Thomas John DOYLE family who resided in Rheatown, Greene County, TN. Thomas was born April 4, 1817 in Pa. and died November 21, 1898 in Rheatown. He married Anne Virginia Bougher on October 8, 1854. She was born October 3, 1830 in Va. and died January 21, 1895 in Rheatown. They are both buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Greenville. My ancestor Wilkeson Harrison, his wife Catherine and daughte Margaret are shown in the 1850 census for Greene Co., TN. Wilkeson is later spelled Wilkinson in other documents, including a marraige record to a second wife. Catherine died in IL at a rather early age. This IL marraige record listed a Solomon Harrison as Wilkeson's father. I'd like to journey to GreenEville to study Greene Co. records but have been unable to do so at this time. Samuel John Kent was born in Greene County, Tenn. His mother's name was Catherine Shelton and his father, John. It is believed that John left the family; no record of his whereabouts. Samuel John married a Elizabeth Shelton who died. He moved to Madison Co., NC and married a Lydia J. Roberts. At the same time of his marriage to Lydia, he was the father of another child,(John Wesley Kent) by either a Minnie Wooten or Sarah Norris. I received this photo of Caroline/Carolyn Kinser. Caroline Kinser was married to Christopher C. Hensley abt. 1877 in Greene County. I need to know who her parents were? She was b. aft. 1858 in Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee d. Bef 1910 in Cocke County, Tennessee.
Christopher was the s/o Francis J.E. Hensley and Catherine Cutshall and was b. November 27, 1858 in Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee d. May 07, 1935 in Greene County, Tennessee.
They were the parents of: Oscar Hensley, Catherine E. Hensley; Herman Bruce Hensley; Sherman Hensley; Myrtle Hensley; Estel Hensley; Eula B. Hensley.

I am looking for information on the SHACKELFORD surname. Sometimes this name is spelled SHACKLEFORD. My grandfather was Clarence Millard Shackelford. His death certificate (and obituary) indicate he was born in Greeneville, Tennessee on 9 August 1894. His death certificate indicates his father's name was David. Recently, I was looking at my Mothers birth certificate and I noticed my grandmother was born in Greene County Tennessee. Her name was Etta Jane Thompson and she was born in 1873. She moved to the Emporia, Kansas area somewhere about 1890-1894. My Mother was born in May, 1895.
I know that is not much to go on, but if you find anything about her, it would be much appreciated.
I am 75 years old and have lived in Franklin County Tennessee since 1983. If I thought I could find more information about my Tennessee heritage, I would plan a trip to Greeneville.

My name is Mary Sue Vincent Mason. I live in Madisonville,TN. I am new at computering. I would like to apply for First Families of TN. But I have a problem. I can not find my oldest relatives parents. Charles Vincent married Julia. He was born about 1804. He stated in census that he was born in N.C. We have found other places where his family could have been in that area. Since it used to be N.C., is what we are thinking. His other relatives stayed in PA. He drifted around. We want to check on an Isaiah Van Sant Jr. We found where he had two wives and 21 children. We just can't make a connection to anyone.
